If you’re are a ’90s kids and especially if you’re living in the Klang Valley, then Sungei Wang is something that you can’t forget. It has been the favourite lepak place for ’90s kids. Back in those days, there were no big malls like Mid Valley, Pavillion, One Utama or even Sunway Pyramid. Most of people are just hanging out at Sungei Wang Plaza
For the past many years, Sungei Wang is tend to be a forgotten place and it’s begin to get lesser and lesser people visiting the mall. Probably with the grow of the new super/mega mall, it’s tend to be forgotten. If you have not been there, you wiIl be surprise how empty it is now!
But there are some news from Capitaland Malaysia Mall Trust’s (CMMT), who owns 62 per cent of the mall where they have a plan to transform this iconic place back to it’s glory! According to The Edge Markets, CMMT says that they want to renovate the place and making it back to its “glistening gold” by mid-2019.
Besides the gold cladding, the CMMT has plan to make the main facade will also feature a 3D screen that will orchestrate a play on lights both day and night.
The Sungei Wang Plaza complex manager Yuen May Chee has say announced some of the plan of the renovation. She said:
“The 3D-patterned screen will give a brand new modern outlook to Sungei Wang Plaza and it will glisten under the sunlight. Furthermore, the screen will form certain patterns during dawn and dusk,”
Another new attraction is that there will be a new zone in Sungei Wang’s five-story annexe block known as “JUMPA”. If you’re wondering what and where is this zone … this zone is where the current Parkson department store is and will be refurbished into a brand new retail space to include a family entertainment park, large format specialty retail stores, edgy fashion brands, F&B, beauty products and supermarket.
Even better news is that he mall will not be renamed to another name but it will still be called Sungei Wang Plaza though!
Iconic enough!
We are pretty excited on this and we just can’t wait to see the transformation of this mall. We have been the frequent visitor of this mall and revamping it would definitely bring back the memories!
