Artist Feel Heartbroken Over Pillars of Sabah removed by Authority

Over the weekend, the Sabah online community has received shocking news when the image of the historic site of famous artwork “Pillars of Sabah” where it was completely removed and covered with white paint where shared over the internet. The project is a community art project which features the local artist’s work displaying the richness of Sabah’s culture and identity and each pillar features each artist’s unique talents and style.
In 2020, Pillars of Sabah was said to be a product that helped to boost tourist attraction. However, the disappearance of the paintings on 31 pillars by 31 artists over the weekend caught the Pillars of Sabah coordinators and artists by surprise as they were not informed of the changes.
