Global Media WatchDog Finds Malaysia Has the Biggest Fall in Press Freedom Ranks in 2021

According to US Congress-funded broadcaster VOA where Malaysia was found the have the biggest decline on the index of where 73% of the 180 countries have completely and partially blocked the media to some degree during the Covid-19 pandemic as the index data reflect a dramatic deterioration in people’s access to information and increasing obstacles to news coverage too.
Malaysiakini reported that the country had the best ranking in 2020 (101 out of 180 countries), while the worst ranking was in 2014 and 2015 (147). Below is the ranking of the 10 ASEAN countries on the 2021 World Press Freedom Index:
