Woman Fined For RM50k for Selling Coronavirus Repelling Bracelets While Covid-19 Case Rises
Recently we all been reading news regarding the rise of new cases from the Covid-19 during this Recovery MCO (RMCO) period of time where the situation if get worsen it might be back to the tighter rules again.
Meanwhile, on 25 July, The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) fined a woman of rm50,000 after she attempts to sell bracelet that she claims that are capable of warding off the coronavirus. By the statement of KPDNHEP enforcement director Iskandar Halim Sulaiman, this issue has gone viral on Facebook where it was being promoted by this woman and each bracelet was priced at RM580 each.
the woman was charged under Section 10 (1) (h) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 for making false or misleading statements and will be issued a maximum compound of rm50,000 and the Ministry will take legal action against the woman if she fails to pay the fine. KPDNHEP is warning the public that this is a serious case as consumer are being deceived by promotions or misleading statements under the use of a product.
