Penang Man Carrying Fake Gun For Fun Are Now Under Investigation Of The Arm Act
Earlier on 25 Jun, the policeman has arrested a man who was seen in the photo of carrying a gun tucked in his pants behind while riding a motorcycle in Penang. He was detained at the guardhouse at a condominium in Sungai Ara, George Town around 3 am on Saturday.
According to the Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Soffian Santong, the man was tracked and detained less than 24 hours after they were informed on the incident and according to the news, the gun which was a fake gun turned out to be an air gun which the suspect bought from rm70 from a grocery shop in Tanjung Tokong about a couple of months back.
The man, who was working as a security guard to them that the gun tucked behind his pants were merely for fun and he has 4 past records of criminal and drug offenses. He is now being investigated under Section 36 of Arms Act 1960 and it might provide punishment for importing or in possession of imitation gun and is punishable with not more than one year jail or a fine of RM5,000 or both if convicted. The 35-year-old security guard is also being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
