If you’re one of those who still waiting for their tax refunds then this is a good news to you
Outstanding Tax Refund Will Be Refunded By 2018 To TaxPayer!
As according to our Finance Minister on FMT, it’s revealed that there are outstanding tax refunds reportedly involve 1,653,786 cases of companies, individuals, societies, and foundations that haven’t being refunded back to the taxpayer from the previous government as far as 6 years back!
He has claimed that the former government failed to refund excess income tax and real property gains tax totalling RM16.046 billion as of end-May.
Good news is that Finance Minister has stated that the current Pakatan Harapan (PH) government has just agreed to allow taxpayers with outstanding tax refunds from LHDN to offset the amount against the tax payable for the current year they would need to submit offset applications to LHDN to obtain verification and approval.
As per reported on Malay Mail, Lim Guan Eng assured Malaysians that their tax refunds would be returned, saying:
“We hope that the failure to return RM16.046 billion of tax refunds is the last mega exposé related to the misappropriation and misuse of taxpayers’ money by the previous government.” “The new Pakatan Harapan government which upholds the principles of Competency, Accountability, and Transparency (CAT) will do its utmost best to resolve such scandals, including through returning the tax refunds.”
If you’re one of those people who still waiting for you tax refund, make sure you you quickly file your applications to LHDN for the tax deduction.
