Government Looking into Restarting the National Service Programme Again
The Program Latihan Khidmat Negara (PLKN) or National Service Training Programme was Malaysia’s National Service under the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and it was handled by the Ministry of Defence where this 3-month program, all 18-year-old netizen were required to be drafted and trained to instill the spirit of volunteerism among the youth. However, on 13 August the former Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government announced the abolishment of the PLKN program.
Pontian MP, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, who’s also the UMNO secretary-general tweeted his appreciation to the Defence Minister saying that PLKN is good for the future generation. So what do you all think about this program? Does it works or does it really help to shape the new Malaysian generations?
