We are listing down the 8 Major Announcement Happening in Malaysia This August
It’s good to take note of what’s happening as some of these announcements/policies/events actually have great impact to us!!
1. Final Holiday Tax Free Month
This would be the final month for Tax free month where GST has being zerolised since June and the new Sales and Services Tax will be implemented by 1st September. This would be the final month for us to do shopping with tax free! Make sure you buy whatever needed during this final holiday tax free month before SST comes in!
2. McDonald’s No Straw Policy
As part of the effort to reduce plastic waste and saving mother earth, McDonald’s Malaysia has launched a ‘Say No To Straws’ campaign, which kick starts on Aug 1. Customers will not be provided with the plastic straw unless they are specifically requested at the counter.
3. Meteor Shower
If you haven’t seen Meteor Shower before, then this would be the best first time for you! The biggest meteor shower will be happening on the 13th August (Monday). You can see the meteor shower from night time of 12th August till morning of 13th August and there would be estimated of 100 – 140 meteors that can be seen every hour.
4. Post Letter For Free
You can do a posting of letter using Sampul Kiriman Merdeka for FREE from any post office to incountry from 1st August till 31st August. This is in conjunction with the celebration of Merdeka Celebration in the month of August! Additional to that, you can also write to our beloved Prime Minister using this service and he will read your letter personally!
5. Malaysia Airlines Baggage Weight Change
Starting from 1st August, Malaysia Airlines will make the adjustment on their check in baggage weight for economy class passenger. They will change the weight from 30KG to 20KG and this change is only applicable to domestics flights only.
6. TM Unifi Speed Increase
This was the announcement made earlier from TM Unifi that you will have an improved 10x speed for existing unifi and Streamyx users. The existing Unifi subscribers will enjoy the speed upgrades in stages starting 15 August 2018. So you can surf faster using TM Unifi!!
7. BSHR Third Phase Distribution
Government will be giving out the BSHR (Bantuan Sara Hidup Rakyat) for those who are eligible in this August. Those who are eligible can check their bank account for this. Or the eligible can also check online from the BSHR website for details too
8. Public Holiday and School Holiday
The government primary and secondary school in Malaysia are entitled for 9 days of school holiday and there are 2 public holidays (22nd Aug for Hari Raya Haji and 31st Aug for Hari Merdeka) in August. It’s time to turn on your holiday mood and plan for your breakaway!
