The New Poverty Benchmark In Johor Are RM2,508 Monthly According To Menteri Besar
Recently, we have been received some true or more accepted truth about poverty line guidance in Malaysia. With the recent news, Johor has recorded their new poverty benchmark which is drawn in the line on where a monthly income of RM2,508, a figure that is noticeably higher than Malaysia’s national PLI.
Datuk Ir Hasni Mohammad, Johor’s Menteri Besar, said that the PLI in Johor is not the same as the report released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia, which states that Malaysia’s national Poverty Income Line is RM2,208.
“If the household income of RM2,208 per month is considered poor at a national level, it is considered too poor in Johor. The household income of RM2,508 per month is still poor in Johor Bahru,” said the Menteri during the Opening Ceremony of Business Matching Between Cooperatives, Venture Capital, GLC and Local Banks in Malaysia With Consortium of Ayam Muslim Berhad (KPAM) Breeders at Thistle Hotel yesterday (18 August).
