The Ministry of Health Announced The Quarantine Period To Be Shortened to 10 Days Instead of 14 Days
Director of Health Tan Sri Noor Hisham announced that starting from December 14, 2020, the quarantine period for the prevention of the new Covid-19 virus will be shortened to 10 days! Director of Health Tan Sri Noor Hisham said that this new measure will apply to people returning to Malaysia from abroad and also those who have close contact with the confirmed patient. The quarantine period will be shortened from the original 14 days to 10 days.
He said that the Ministry of Health made this decision based on the reduction in isolation days in other countries and the latest clinical scientific reports. The latest clinical science confirms that people’s risk of infection after quarantine will be reduced according to the length of their quarantine, and close contacts have the highest infection rate within a week.
As of now, several countries are reviewing the number of days of mandatory isolation. In addition, Britain, Germany, and Belgium have all reduced the number of mandatory isolation days from 14 to 10 days, while France has reduced the number of isolation days to 7 days.
Measures to reduce the number of quarantine days to 10 days will apply to quarantine centers or residential areas. This also means that starting from December 14, 2020, whether it is a person returning to Malaysia from abroad, or a person who must be quarantined because of close contact with a confirmed patient, they will only need to be quarantined for 10 days!
