Recreational Park in KL Offers RM10K for Anyone Who Can Find A Good Name For this Baby Tapir
There is a new baby tapir which made the ‘Name Our Baby Tapir’ contest is held by 99 Wonderland Park, a 23-acre recreational park located in Pusat Bandar Utara, Kuala Lumpur. As on 6 February, the Malayan Tapir or Tapirus Indicus have gave birth to a female baby and now the parks needs some nice creative name from Malaysia to help name her.
JL99 Group executive chairman Datuk Seri Jeff BK Lee said the contest was organised to celebrate her birth, reported Harian Metro. And the WInner of the contest will be announced on 27 April 2021 in the conjunction of the World Tapir Day. In the January last year, there are two tapirs which is the Mr Junior and Puan Peradong. and After more than a year, Puan Peradong has give birth to her daughter who is the recent baby tapir.
The choosen name winner will be able be given the promised RM10,000 cash reward. On average, female tapirs only give birth every two years.
A 2020 report noted that there are only 1,500 Malayan tapirs in Malaysia, while the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimated that there are fewer than 2,500 mature Malayan tapirs remaining in the Southaast Asian region.
