Ramadan is just around the corner and many people are asking whether will there be any Ramadan bazaar for this year? The Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa says the management of Ramadan bazaars in the federal territories will be modified beginning this year to prevent congestion at stalls.
He mentioned that Ramadan bazaars would not be cancelled but instead adjusted as they were needed by the people, especially those living in the cities.
This decision from the authority has sparks a lot of controversial on social media. Many Malaysians are calling for the annual Ramadan bazaar to be called off, citing concerns over the Covid-19 virus, which have infected more than 2,000 over the recent weeks.
There are many social media users have expressed their fear that a potential third wave of Covid-19 cases could be triggered if the authorities gave the green light for Ramadan bazaars. Some are even saying that if held, the Ramadan bazaar could put efforts made by frontliners during the 28-day MCO to waste.
Even the Health Ministry director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has mentioned said that proper crowd control measures are needed if Ramadan food bazaars are to be implemented but many think that we rather not risk it as it’s could spark the 3rd wave of Covid-19 infection.
