We usually will notice that food delivery riders will run through a red light to save time for their delivery, which will happen most of the time. But little did we know that it always causes a lot of unwanted accidents which end up in casualties sometimes.

Therefore, the Police Forces Malaysia (PDRM) has launch Ops Lampu Isyarat Merah starting from 16 December to 31 December where according to Pengarah Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik Bukit Aman Datuk Azisman Alias, this operation will be enforced with immediate effect was aimed at detecting those who committed red traffic violations, especially among motorcyclists, including food or goods deliverers and other drivers, Bernama reported.

“Immediate summons action will be taken or recorded the details of the vehicle involved for follow-up action. We take this driving attitude seriously which can cause accidents and cause annoyance to the community, “he said in a statement today.

He said enforcement statistics involving red traffic light offenses last year recorded 69,267 summonses, with motorcycles recording the highest number of offenses at 32,657 followed by cars (29,873), lorries (2,808), and 3,929 other vehicles. For the period from January to Nov, 52,170 summonses were issued with motorcycle vehicles recording the highest summons of 26,764 followed by cars (20,751), lorries (2,208), and 2,447 other vehicles.

Azisman said any individual who committed an offense violating the red traffic light could be prosecuted under Rule 17 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 which could be fined not exceeding RM2,000 or imprisoned for a term not exceeding six months. So to be fair to everyone, rules are made to be followed and be fair to everyone. So pandai-pandai ya!~ With this hefty summon, and during this pandemic, you don’t want to waste your hard earn money just to pay up a hefty Rm2,000 right?
