Many were left frustrated with the date set by our government for the GE14 polling date
Good News is that PMO announces May 9 as public holiday
Now there is no more excuses for people not to come out and vote.
According to a PMO statement (The Star), the public holiday is to allow Malaysians to fulfil their obligations as voters. It said the public holiday is announced according to Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951 for peninsular Malaysia as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan.
Sabah and Sarawak state governments will announce the May 9 public holiday as prescribed by their respective Holidays Ordinance.
The announcement comes in the wake of widespread criticism over the Election Commission’s decision to fix the polling date on a work day, May 9 (Wednesday).
Guess the government really hear our grunts and making those right moves.
So boys and girls … time to balik and UNDI!!
