Perodua Launch D55L SUV, Officially Open For Booking from RM62.5k Onwards
The Perodua has announced that the much anticipated D55L SUV is now open for booking, where in the same time it is releasing the first details on the Daihatsu Rocky based model, where some are saying that the real name is Ativa. But for now the model is known as D55L which will be having three variants, which is the X, H, AV and are priced at between RM62,500 and RM73,400, on-the-road without insurance, with sales tax exemption.
The D55L is priced higher than the MYVI which tops out at RM52,697 and the prices overlap the Aruz which is much larger but also less sophisticated where the D55L is a compact B-Segment SUV underpinned by latest Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform and it has the new groundbreaking Advance Safety Assist (ASA 3.0 which will are yet to be confirmed) which included the features such as Pre-collision Warning (PCW), Pre-collision Braking (PCB or AEB), Front Departure Alert (FDA) and Pedal Mis-operation Control (PMC) are for all variants. P2 says that the AEB operates at higher speeds than the current 2.0 version and is now capable of detecting two-wheeled vehicles (pedestrians were added in 2.0).
The D55L is also the first Perodua vehicle to be equipped with a turbocharged engine and the first P2 model to adopt the CVT in place of the default four speed torque converter automatic and the Turbo-CVT combo yields class leading rated fuel efficiency of 18.9 km/l.
The powertrain is no other than the Daihatsu Rocky or Toyota Raize twins which are powered by a 1KR-VET 1.0 litre (996cc) turbocharged three-cylinder engines with 98 PS at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm. And the engine code might sound familiar which is the turbocharged version of the 1KR-VE used in Axia and Bezza.
The D55L has LED headlamps as the standard feature across the range while the H and AV has Adaptive Driving Beam (cuts out on coming vehicles when high beam is on instead of dipping High Beam completely) and seven inches multi info display and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice recognition.
As for the colours, the X and H variants will have the Glittering Silver, Granite Grey and Cobalt Blue with the mid spec H also available in Pearl Diamond White and pearl Delima Red while the AV range has the choice of Glittering Silver, Granite Grey, Pearl Diamond White and Pearl Delima Red, plus two-tone (black roof and A pillars) options for the two pearl colors (red and white).
