PDRM Enforce Banned E-Scooter on KL Roads Starting 1st Jan 2021, Offender will be Fined RM300

As more advanced technologies are starting to appear in our daily lifestyle where most of the time you might have witnessed some netizen strolling around the city or gardens with some e-scooter as it provides an easy and convenient experience which will save you time and also energy.

However, with the recently more and more news regarding e-scooter were being used on the public main road which will cause trouble to car driver or motorcycle rider. In which, Kuala Lumpur has announced that all e-scooter (electric scooters) will be banned on the KL city roads starting 1st January. While only gazetted areas are allowed to have e-scooter roaming and for those who are caught breaching these rules will be fined RM300.

This decision where was announced by Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department Chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya where in the past the police traffic department has received a lot of complaints from the public that these irresponsible riders of e-scooter by riding on the public road.

ACP Zulkelfy also mentioned that starting January 2021, action can be taken under the Road Transport Act where errands can be fined RM300 and if the offender were caught repeating the offense, he or she can face a maximum fine of RM1,000 or 3 months imprisonment. Those who insist on using an e-scooter on the road for a special reason are required to apply for a special permission license from the Director-General of the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

So do take now for those who are using e-scooter to work on a daily basis as you will require new permission or license to be able to operate on the road. Perhaps this might be a good solution rather than allowing the more e-scooter ride to endanger their lives on public roads.
