The Covid-19 has bring not just impact to us human but it is also impacting the animal as well. It is reported that a German zoo might have to resort to the unthinkable measurement, which is to slaughter and feed its animals to each other as its funds and revenue fall due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As we all know, due to this pandemic, there are lesser tourist and thus the finance is also impacted. Due to this, the Neumünster Zoo in northern Germany has made this startling declaration amid of the country’s government-ordered lockdown.
The zoo director Verena Kaspari said that the zoo hasn’t been receiving any city funds, and state funds they applied for have not arrived so they are in short of fund. Due to this, the zoo does not have enough money to purchase feed, or if their feed supplier’s operations are curbed due to new restrictions, reported CNN.
Due to this, Kaspari emphasised that there might be a possibility of feeding its animals to each other as a last resort, “the worst, worst case of all”. As it is though, the zoo has already drawn up an emergency list of which animals would be the first to be slaughtered.
