Uber has just completed its deal with SoftBank Group Corp (as according to Bloomberg), triggering a slate of governance reforms at the ride-hailing company.
There is now rumour that Uber may be pulling out of Southeast Asia soon. Good news for Grab but not so good for us, the consumer. That means there will be lesser promo codes for us!
Rajeev Mishra, Softbank executive, said, “Uber was better off focusing on its core markets including the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Australia.”. This means that they might pull Uber back from markets such as Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa. Malaysia in there too!!
There was talk that Grab is planning to acquire Uber (as reported by KR Asia) but seems like the Softbank has taken over it now!
