No Fireworks or Countdown for Upcoming 2021 Arrivals
Despite the new year celebration which is just months away while our country is still under the Covid-19 pandemic and the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) as we are going to bid farewell to this tough year and welcoming the new year. According to the Kuala Lumpur CIty hall, there will be no events lined up to welcome the new year, as for Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the CMCO extension for the city would last until the end of the year.
While the Ipoh City Council (MBI) also called off the New Year Countdowns and celebration, the Housing and Local Government Ministry also urged the locals to stay away from large social gatherings to celebrate the new year. As currently there are still rising new confirmed cases of Covid-19 where the most effective prevention measure is to stay away from getting infected in public gatherings therefore the ministry is not encouraging any large gatherings.
While shopping malls in the Klang Valley also have called off their annual New Year celebration which would usually set off fireworks with mini-concerts events. Meanwhile, the Menara Kuala Lumpur management has also canceled their annual countdown event, which usually raked in large revenue for them too. So staying safe is the most important issue for the moment as we really don’t want our beloved country to get hit by another huge wave.
