We as Malaysian love our durians where it is the King of Fruits after all however a lot of foreigners and non-southeast Asian have a sort of love-hate relationship with this food due to the taste, texture and also its glorious smell too. However, the most upset thing is when someone would simply cut the fruit in half and even cut portions of the fruits inside and dig it out with a spoon.
As a Malaysia trader, where he has made us proud when he appeared in a variety show in China to teach the locals there the correct way to open a durian without much effort at all, and he just used a small swiss army knife. The durian exporter, Loh Wee Keng demonstrated a step-by-step guide on how to cut open the durian, and he said that the durian actually has a visible lines as guide on the bottom of the fruit where you can easily slice it open.
The audience were amazed and even the spectators and commentor on the spot there were surprised by the steps of opening the fruits.
