M’sian Can be Fined Up to RM20K For not Providing IC To Police Officer During Police Inspection
Any individuals who failed to provide their identification cards (IC) during the police inspection are deemed to be violated the law can be fined up to RM20,000 or imprisoned up to three years, or both. In the stament released by the PDRM portal, DIG Deputy Chief of National Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani pointed out that there are certain online media that claim the PDRM has no right to arrest individuals who fail to bring or summit their IC during inspections.
However, he said that this is goes against the provisions under the National Registration Act 1959 (Act 78) and Regulation 25(1)(n) of the National Registration Regulations (PPPN) 1990. Acryl Sani reminded the public to always bring along their identification documents as required under Regulation 6 of the PPPN 1990.
