MOH Warned that using headphone and Earbuds Can cause Damage To Your Ears In Long Use
The Ministry of Health (MOH) recently shared a post that those who are wearing earphones for too long or too loud can lead to hearing damage where this process will be painless and occurs very slowly. This is due to when sound waves reach our ear they cause the eardrum to vibrate and this vibration travels through several tiny bones to reach the cochlea in the inner eat which is a fluid chamber containing thousands of small hair.
The loudest noise is capable of causing the hair cells in the cochlea not only to vibrate but also to bend or fold over which will cause the sensation of temporary hearing loss after you are exposed to high volumes such as after coming out from a concert or cinema. This hair cell will take time to recover from extreme vibration caused by loud noise.
However, listening to music at a moderate volume can also damage your hearing over time after long exposure to the noise. Here is the way where you can prevent your damaging your ear:
– Generally use earphones less,
– Set your device volume to not more than half,
– Do not use earphones for more than 90 minutes at a time,
– Do not use earbuds – use noise-canceling headphones so that they cancel out external noise and you need not turn the volume up so high, and
– Rest your ears – they will need 16 hours to recover after a whole night of noise.
