Men Pose As Police Allegedly Rob and Drag A Woman Out Of Ampang Restaurant
A case that went viral on Monday, 24 August shows 2 men wearing black t-shirts and trousers were dragging a woman on the floor while she struggles and continuously screaming for help. Where this incident a police corporal was arrested on suspicion of robbery after this video showing the 3 hauling the woman out of the restaurant.
Towards the end of the video, a few people come forward to confront the suspects and the woman finally breaks free from their grip and runs aside. This information has since been confirmed by Ampang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Azam Ismail, whose district is investigating the incident. Initial checks found that the woman is a Chinese national while the three suspects are believed to be Malaysian citizens.
“The 29-year-old victim was having a drink with her friends at a restaurant at Jalan Pandan 3/10 when three men approached her and introduced themselves as policemen,” the police chief said.
The video caption states that the restaurant patrons initially watched with hesitation as the robbers dragged her out of the premise because they believed the suspects were policemen on duty.
However, as soon as she started screaming for help, they sprung into action. Mohd Azam said the first suspect caught by members of the public is a 46-year-old police corporal who was under suspension from work.
“The suspect will be remanded to assist further investigations,” he said, adding that the police have already identified his two accomplices and are tracking them down. Meanwhile, the police chief said that the victim lost about RM5,000 in cash and several items of make-up in her handbag.
“She did not sustain any injuries,” he affirmed.
