MCMC Gives TM Final Warning On Protecting User By Using Simple Language
The Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a final warning to Telekom Malaysia after the recent case on the Unifi 500 package where the upload speed was complained by the consumer that the speed should be 200mbps but instead were down throttled to 100mbps. Where Telekom Malaysia should be complying with Section 1.2 of the Consumer General Code of Practice (GCC) to make sure the advertisement or message brought out by them is using simple language and not hidden clauses.
While TM claimed that they have not made any changes to the speed of the 500MBPS Unifi package and it was due to an error of the original marketing material. The 500Mbps plan, priced at RM249 per month, was introduced on Aug 24.
MCMC also reminded TM to ensure that customers receive the quality of service promised, adding it has to inform users of issues that may affect its service.
