9th May was a history for all Malaysia
Malaysia Makes Few History in GE14
Yesterday was pretty exhausting day for us. Everyone has been busy going out to vote. Even with all those hot sun and waiting for few hours but we have gone through it.
After the results were out, Malaysia has make few history in the GE14 yesterday.
If you’re asking what are the histories that Malaysia has achieve? Here is the lists of them
1. Breaking 61 Years of single party rule
The election sees Barisan National which has led the country for 60 years (since Malaysia’s independence might I add) loss its favour to the opposition. The country has not experience a change of government and this has been the very first
2. The oldest MP – 92 years old
The second broken record on this GE14 is on the oldest contestant. The oldest contestant is from Pakatan Harapan’s Dr Tun Mahathir. He is 92 years old and he is contesting for the Langkawi Parliament seat, which he has won.
3. The youngest MP – 22 years old
Previously this record was hold Najib and he has now been overtaken. Now this record has been broken by a new comer (Batu Parliament), P. Prabakaran. He contested as a Parti Bebas but he has then been recruited by the Pakatan Harapan.
4. The oldest and youngest MP’s in the house, in the same term
Another surprising record is that the youngest and the oldest MP are in the same party and in the same term! This has never been happened to any election history but this is happening now!
5. PM returns for 2nd term after 15 years retirement
Dr Tun Mahathir is the first ever PM that has coming back as PM for second term. He was a PM in Barisan National in his previous term and he came out of 15 years retirement to take the PM role but this time, it’s for Pakatan Harapan
6. The First Female DPM
We believe in girl power and we are proud of Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She has become the first female to take up the role of Deputy Prime Minister after the Pakatan Harapan winning
Once again, no matter whoever wins the election, the most important is that we need to respect each other. This election has shown the Rakyat Power and it has shown the Rebirth of DEMOCRACY
