Malaysia’s Covid-19 Cases has crossed the 100,000 Mark, Should we worry about it?
Malaysia has reported a 1,581 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday which brings the total of our country’s number of infections to more than 100,000 marks. With the new cases, there are 2 imported while 1,579 are locally transmission. While 4 more new clusters were detected in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor too. With Selangor as the highest daily figure of 491 cases.
As the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin said on Wednesday that Malaysia is in talks to buy 6.4 million doses of Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine and wants to increase its purchases of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Where the final discussion with 2 more Chinese vaccine makers and plans to arrange for these ultra-cold storage here in our country.
Currently, Malaysia is spending around US$500 million to buy enough vaccine for 26.5 million people or around 80% of our entire population here which so far there are enough doses to inoculate 40% of the population and currently, Malaysia has purchased 12.8 million doses from the Pfizer vaccine so far which the first shipment will arrive in February.
But with the 100,000 mark the total record. Should we worry as there are even reports of newly mutated virus appearing in our country plus the new vaccine are still doubted to be working 100% for everyone.
