Kelantan Couple Arrested for Possession of an AK-47 Weapon Which They Use to Shoot Elephants
As humans, we sometimes tend to forget that animals come close to the human area because we are destroying their own habitats and in this situation, it seems to a lot of human behavior first initial response is to kill the animal instead of understanding their needs instead.
A couple in their 50s from Kuala Krai, Kelantan was arrested for possession of an AK-47 with 142 bullets being confiscated. The raid was done after the public informed the police enforcement and both the individuals arrested are Malaysians and currently, initial investigation reveals that the husband has possessed this firearm for more than 5 years now since a man from Tanah Merah gives it to him. Plus the suspect also claimed that the firearm was used to shoot wild animals such as elephants that often enter his rubber plantation and the suspect also admitted that he has shoot 2 elephants with the firearm.
Kelantan Police Chief Shafien Mamat also added that the suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm without a license or permit and the weapon last use was 2 years ago and further investigation will be carried out in accordance with Section 8 of the Firearms (Heavier Penalties) Act 1971 and Section 8 (a) of the Weapons Act 1960 which on conviction is punishable by imprisonment, fines, and whipping.
While the PDRM will also investigating the man named Su who supplied the firearm and bullets at RM15 apiece. And the case will also be referred to Kelantan Perhilitan Department as the suspect confessed to killing 2 elephants. So hopefully he learns his lesson and it is best to refer all these issues to the related government department before acting rush. As there is always some certain department which is in charge of these animals which we can forward the problem to them instead and not solving it with this brutal way all by ourself.
