Is Taxis is Now Cheaper Than Grab??

by July 12, 2018

3 months back when Uber was taken over by Grab, the things that we worried the most is here. The market monopoly starts from then

grab-cheaper-than-taxi-1 - News

Now, there has been many users complain that their rides are becoming more expensive and seems like there has been a debate that the Grab is now even more expensive than Taxi.

No doubt that Grab is a really convenience way to travel and it was previously branded as a cheap and efficient way to travel, but now there are more and more passengers complain that the popular ride-hailing service is now more expensive than the conventional taxis.

What’s the best alternative to Grab in KL right now? Hate how long it takes me to get a ride considering I live in the city, and how expensive it is now 🙄

Just notice how expensive Grab is nowadays since Uber is no longer operating. This is what happened when they got no major competitor.

OTL I DISLIKE GRAB!!! I MISS UBER!!! Grab keeps cancelling on me and it’s damn expensive now!! I might as well go back to taking taxi at this rate!

— Anna (@F5reverEunHae) 11 July 2018

According to FMT, seems like the complain from the user holds true. Apparently, the trips by taxis now are about half the price of what Grab charges. A one-way trip that takes about 10 minutes (about 5km) costs about RM7 only using a taxi, compared to Grab’s service which now costs about RM14.

In short, Taxi fares are also cheaper for trips that take about 30 minutes compared to what is offered by Grab over the same duration.

Here is a statement from A spokesman from Grab where they have informed to FMT that the attributions of the higher rates are due to the company’s implementation of dynamic pricing, which sees prices fluctuating according to the demand and supply in high traffic areas during peak hours.

What do you think? Do you think that the Grab is really more expensive now? Would you rather take a taxi than grab? Let us know your comment on the Facebook page.
