We all know that Singapore is a country where you can make a living, and it has been a great country where you can basically find anything here from foods, security and more. However, not many Singaporean are aware of the challenge they are facing while living abroad. Where an Indian migrant worker in Singapore, Ramasamy Madhavan made a short film titled $alary Day as to show how struggling life could be working as an immigrant here at Singapore.

Through the film, we can see that he is earning around $450 per month, and he basically allocated every single cent of his salary before even receiving his salary. And He remits $300 of his pay to his loved one in India while he then hands over $110 to a man at a restaurant to cater for his daily meals and basically every month he left a little in his saving.

In his video, you can notice that he basically left with $8 after deducting all his expenses and he were struggling between treating himself a plate of Maggi mee goreng at a mamak stall and a haircut trim which will cost him $7, and eventually he decided to just go ahead with the $7 and leaving himself with just $1 dollar from his pay.

From the film, although it is a silent film, but it does leave viewer with a heavy mindset that how we are taking things for granted in fact while some people just couldn’t even afford to treat themselves a nice meal.
