Government To Implement Levy For Online Shopping Service Fees
On 8th September, Datuk Zahidi, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia has mentioned that the government might have a new place to impose a service fee for online shopping which including Lazada and Shopee.
The levy fees imposed are:
- Online shopping transactions range from RM200 to RM1,000 will have a service fee of RM0.20 cents.
- online shopping transactions range from RM1,000 above will have a service fee of RM0.40 cents.
Zahidi revealed that this matter is still in the research stage and will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval and by this new levy, the government hopes that it will increase the source of income for the people with better services.
