Many of us are looking are looking forwards to our new government but Government Halts One of Manifesto Plan Due to Malaysia’s Weak Financial State
One manifesto in particular that all of us have been looking forward to is the toll abolition where it is part of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto prior to winning the election where they have pledged abolish with tolls once as part of their 100-day manifesto.
FMT reported that our Work Minister Baru Bian announced in the Dewan Rakyat today (13 August 2018) that in order to carry out the abolishment of tolls, the government would need to allocate at least RM400 billion to carry on it out. Baru then explained that this move is not possible at this moment but it will only be possible after the country’s financial state was stable
Baru has quoted:
“The government will continue efforts to fulfil its promises in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto, including the abolition of highway tolls, but we admit that it is not easy to implement due to the pressures on the government’s finances,”
Looks like we the rakyat would need to have to wait a little longer for this manifesto because of the high costs they will need to bear when compensating the toll concessionaires.
Of course there are some criticism from the opposition, BN’s MP from Jelebu -Jalaluddin where he claimed that the decision showed that PH isn’t “serious” about fulfilling the election pledges but Baru explained that they have never said that PH was going to remove tolls within the first 100 days of obtaining Putrajaya.
So what do you think of the postponing of this manifesto? Let us know your thought on the comment below or even on the Facebook post.
