Government Announce Travel Tax Deduction Of RM1,000 For Tickets & Accommodation
The Prime Minister of Malaysia announced the National Economic Rejuvenation Plan (PENJANA) that in order to promote the recovery of domestic tourism, people traveling in the country can receive personal income tax deductions up to RM1000
From March 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021, if we travel within Malaysia, we will be able to obtain personal income tax relief (Pelepasan Cukai) up to RM1000 when we file the tax in the next year.
As long as the accommodation and tourist attraction tickets that have been registered under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture meet the conditions for tax deduction, they can get tax relief when submitting personal income tax. Therefore, when we travel domestically, we must keep relevant receipts, including accommodation receipts and tourist attraction tickets, to facilitate tax declaration.
