Fine for Spreading Fake News of Covid-19 or Emergency Increase to RM100,000
The latest new where any individual who create or spread fake news on the internet regarding the Covid-19 or Emergency proclamation will now face up to RM100,000 and imprisonment from tomorrow onwards. This is accordance to the new Emergency (Essential Powers) (No. 2) Ordinance 2021 published on the Federal Gazette website.
Berkuatkuasa hari ini, individu mencipta, menerbit atau menyebarkan berita tidak benar berhubung #COVID1D atau proklamasi darurat boleh berdepan hukuman:
1. Denda maksimum RM100,000 atau
2. Penjara tidak lebih 3 tahun atau

This gazette ordinance will come to operation on 12 March 2021 and anyone who spread these fake news of Covid-19 and emergency news whether in the forms of visual or audio recording in any other form will be liable for a fine not exceeding RM500,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six years or to both.
