Contribution EPF for Housewives To Be implementing Soon
The Government is encouraging this movement where the addition of RM50 for each EPF contribution to the proposed pension scheme for housewives but take note that this is only specially for first wife in the event of a polygamous marriage.
The scheme will take effect in stages within Pakatan Harapan’s first 100 days in government, starting with a voluntary contribution which will later be made mandatory with amendments to the EPF Act and Social Security Organisation (Socso) Act.
There are 3 phases implementation of this EPF contribution where phase 1 is the introduction of this contribution. Phase 2 and Phase 2 will likely takes longer time as this would be a longer time as that involves mandating this rule.
Phase 2 will be involving a larger social coverage for the beneficial wife where it will involves Social Security Organisation Socso Act – Akta Keselamatan Sosial Pekerja 1999 (Akta 4)
And the phase 3 will be implementing a mandatory contribution with enforcing on the amendments to the EPF Act Akta Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP) 1991, Akta 452.
In regardless, we do think that this is a great move to cover wife from husband EPF as this will likely safeguard the woman especially those who are housewife that doesn’t earn any income. Secondly, it’s the husband responsibility to financially support their wife too
