Doctor Advice Everyone not To Consume Paracetamol before Getting Vaccination

From 5 May, Malaysians who volunteered for the AstraZeneca vaccination jabs will be getting their first doses today at selected locations across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. However, with such a large number of Malaysians are going for their vaccination, there might be some misleading or even potentially dangerous info going around. One of these rumours is that you are advised to take Paracetamol before your vaccination to reduce the side effect are totally false.
Managing Editor for The Malaysian Medical Gazette, Dr Khoo Yoong Khean (@yoongkhean), shared on his Twitter that taking Paracetamol before the vaccination technically won’t help and in fact, some studies show that pre-vaccination analgesia might reduce immune response (it picks up after the booster dose).
Instead, Dr Khoo advise that for those going for vaccination, having a good night sleep is essential and taking your prescribed medicines regularly is advised unless your doctor adjust it for you. However, for those who are having body ache or headache continuously, you should consult your doctor which may be some side effects from the AstraZeneca vaccination.
