DBKL Restrict Hard Liquor Sales on Shops starting Next Year
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) has announced new guidelines on the criteria for liquor license applications were starting from 1st October 2021, Chinese medicine shop, convenience stores, and grocery shops are now allowed to sell any hard liquor. However, pure or mixed liquor products for the purpose of traditional medicine will be exempted from these rules. While beer will still be allowed to sell from 7 am – 9 pm and the beer must be separated from other beverages.
Any business premises also aren’t allowed to sell liquor in front of police stations, places of worship, school, and hospitals nearby, while premises such as Pubs, bars, lounges, and restaurants can sell liquor from 10, am until midnight while an additional application to extend the sale of liquor until 2 am can be made based on the allowed entertainment hours of the premises or the approved time limit for premises at entertainment zones.
