Our daily cases of Covid-19 infection remained at the low 1,000 marks earlier, but recently the case has spiked up to 1,889 where the number can get higher with the infectivity rate is rising by the day. According to the Ministry Of Health (MOH) where the infectivity rate now stands at 1.14 which is a huge jump from the previous days and if this rate increases higher it will become the 4th alarming wave of the Covid-19 infections.
The infectivity rate is measured using the R0 (pronounced R-naught) value. For example, an infectivity rate of 1.5 means that one infected person is able to spread the virus to 1.5 other people. And with the RO now at this rate, the infectivity will be higher than 23 January 2021 which the cases reached over 4,200 cases only on the infectivity rate of 1.08 only.
On 13 April, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that Malaysia will be at a risk for the fourth wave based on the risk assessment done by the Ministry of Health over the past 14 days.
