A Huge Cargo Ship Stucked at Suez Canal After Lost Its Steer Ability Due to High Winds and Dust Storm

The Suez Canal is the shortest shipping route in the world from Asia to Europe is now having a major standstill after a 400-meter-long container cargo-ship, Taiwan based Evergreen group which becomes stuck sideways at the straits on Tuesday, 23 March. The ship is said to be the largest ever ship going around the Suez Canal according to the BBC and the ship is currently unable to be pulled free at high tide plus some of its cargo might have to be removed to release some massive weight on this ship.

The ship with 224,000 tonne ship is known as the Ever Given were stuck after losing its steering ability during high wind and a dust storm. Currently, there are 185 ships carrying a variety of goods such as live stock, oil, natural gas and food are currently in jam along the canal. The oil market prices have fluctuated as the result of the blockage  and there are five tugs ship which are current attempting to drag the ship into deeper water with an additional three more heading to help on 25 March.

The ship’s owner, Japanese firm Shoei Kisen KK, and insurers of the ship likely face claims reaching millions of dollars from Eqypt’s Suez Canal Authority for loss of revenue and other ship whose the trip were disrupted.
