A 61-year-old grandma who lives in Nibong Tebals has to travels 6 hours daily back and forth to Air Itam market just to sell salted fish so that she can continue to earn money to pay for her grandson’s college fees. She mentioned that previously she was selling salted fish around her neighbourhood but couldn’t earn more so in order to provide a better education for her grandson, she decided to set up a salted fish stall at Air Itam.
Where each day, she will wake up around 5.30 am and cycle to the nearest bus stop before hailing a bus ride to Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal that will take her to the island and then she will hop on to other Rapid buses that will bring her to her final destination, Air Itam Market. The journey usually takes three houses which is exhausting but she never thought of asking for help which she thinks will be a burden to others.
Kudos to this awesome grandma love and let us wish that she will stay healthy and her grandson will manage to graduate into a good person and repay her back in future. For those who are visiting Air Itam Market, maybe you can drop by to her stall and check out her salted fish!
