5G Network will available in Malaysia at the end of 2022 or Early 2023
The Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Saifuddin Abdullah has mentioned that the 5G network in Malaysia will be available at the end of 2022 or early 2023 which is for the moment, having 5G in certain areas while 4G is still inaccessible in a rural area makes no point yet. And the factors to consider also include the acceptance level among citizens for the 5G.
In addition, the minister also pointed out that the readiness of the industrial sector needs to be considered as well where the consumers will only cover 30% of 5G usages as the rest will be covered for industrial purposes. And he government has laid down under Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) where the government is currently taking step by step approach towards 5G. And for citizens to purchase a 5G phone, it will sound wiser decision to make in the future but not now. .
And current government prefers to strengthen the current 4G infrastructure first instead of focusing on the 5G future proof network first.
