The i-Sinar program allows you to withdraw funds from the first account of the provident fund
EPF members whose financial resources are affected can apply for the i-Sinar program to receive up to RM10,000 from the first EPF account! Finance Minister Tunku Zafru stated that KWSP will distribute funds to members who successfully apply from January 11.

9% contribution rate of provident fund
From January 2021, the EPF contribution of migrant workers will be reduced from 11% to 9%. This measure is to allow the people to increase their disposable income for a period of 12 months. Do you want to continue to pay 11% of the provident fund every month? No problem, you only need to fill out the KWSP 17A (Khas) form yourself and hand it to your employer. Your employer will help you submit your application to the Employees Provident Fund Board.
People’s Care Assistance Fund (Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat)
The People’s Care Assistance Fund (BPR) will be open for applications at the end of January next year, with a maximum of RM1800. It will replace the existing National Care Assistance Fund (BPN)!
eBelia e-wallet rewards
In order to encourage more young people to use cashless transactions, the government will launch the “eYouth” (eBelia) program. The government will distribute another RM100 e-red envelope, and the beneficiaries are young people aged 18-20. The application method has not been announced yet!
Unlimited monthly bus pass
Designated groups can purchase a monthly bus pass for unlimited use at a price of RM5. Students from the first grade to the sixth grade in middle school, and people with disabilities can enjoy this discount!

My30’s public transport monthly pass plan will continue and expand to Penang and Kuantan.
Electricity rebate
The electricity bill will remain unchanged in 2021, and there will be rebates! From January 1st to June 30th, 2021, the electricity rate will be maintained at 39.45 cents per kilowatt hour. Users will get a rebate of 2 cents per kWh!
Network care plan
The Internet Care Program (PJP) is used to reduce the financial burden of the B40 low-income group. This plan will be implemented in March 2021. Through this program, beneficiaries can use this RM180 allowance to subsidize Internet access or to subsidize the purchase of mobile phones.
It is not mandatory to wear black shoes in primary and secondary schools
Students will not be forced to wear black shoes from next year. White shoes and white socks are also ok! Starting from 2021 next year, primary and secondary school students can choose whether they want to wear white shoes and white socks or black shoes and black socks for school, but they cannot match black and white! Students’ shoes and socks must be the same color, or all black or all white.
SPM will resume science laboratory exams
In the SPM exam from 2021, the four subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Science. The experimental exams on paper three will be restored and replace the original paper three written experimental exams.
KL designated stores do not sell spirits
From October 2021, convenience stores, grocery stores and Chinese medicine stores in Kuala Lumpur will ban the sale of spirits! However, traditional medicinal liquor and beer will be exempted.
Levy e-cigarette tax
Electronic cigarettes will be taxed with a 10% national tax. Each milliliter of e-cigarette liquid is levied 40 cents in tax.
Duty-free island tobacco taxation
From 2021, cigarettes in duty-free zones will also be taxed.
Tourist tax
Starting from July 2021, tourists who book accommodation through online platforms will be subject to a tourist tax.
Automobile sales tax exemption
In order to stimulate the local automobile consumer market, the government announced at the beginning of the year that locally assembled vehicles (CKD) would be exempted from 100% sales tax. Imported vehicles (CBU) are exempted from 50% sales tax. This offer will end on December 31, 2020. The new car will be restored to its original price from January 1st!
LHDN no longer accepts mailed checks for tax payment!
Starting from January 1, 2021, tax payment by mail check will no longer be accepted! However, this policy will not affect the following situations. Those who pay the following taxes will continue to use the mail check method:
- Industry Profit Tax (CKHT)
- Artist income tax (Cukai pendapatan Penghibur Awam)
- Withholding tax (Cukai Pegangan)
- Fine (Kompaun)
Accommodation certification for foreign workers
From July 1, 2021, if foreign workers are employed, employers must apply to the Human Resources Department for workers’ accommodation certification. If the employer breaks the law, once the crime is convicted, he will face a maximum fine of 50,000 ringgit.
Foreign workers are compulsory to accept coronary disease testing
Starting from January 1, 2021, employers are required to conduct coronary disease testing for foreign workers they hire, and the cost of testing must be borne by the employer.
