Deepavali is a time for bringing families together, sharing happiness and creating wonderful memories. This year, Petrosains – The Discovery Centre is giving families another reason to celebrate with a special one-day event filled with exciting activities, cultural entertainment and attractive shopping deals. Taking place on 8 November 2026, the Spark the Celebration Deepavali event promises a fun-filled experience where visitors can enjoy science, culture and festive surprises under one roof.

For families looking for something different to do during the Deepavali season, this could be a worthwhile activity to add to their weekend plans. Instead of simply spending the day shopping or dining out, visitors can enjoy an educational experience at Petrosains while taking part in special celebrations prepared for the occasion.

There is also something extra to look forward to before heading home. XPLORASI, the Petrosains Gift Shop, will be offering special Deepavali shopping promotions, including discounts of up to 40% OFF, Buy 1 Free 1 deals and a FREE Mystery Gift with a minimum purchase of RM80. These offers make the celebration even more interesting, particularly for parents looking for gifts, souvenirs or little treats for their children.

Celebrate Deepavali with Petrosains on 8 November 2026

The theme for this year’s celebration is Spark the Celebration, inspired by the idea that every diya begins with a spark, just as every celebration begins with a special moment.

Petrosains is bringing this festive spirit to life through a combination of science-related entertainment, cultural performances and opportunities for families to spend quality time together.

The event is particularly appealing to parents who want their children to enjoy activities that are both entertaining and educational. Petrosains is already known for making science more accessible through interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences, so adding a Deepavali celebration gives visitors another reason to explore the discovery centre.

Whether visitors are coming with young children, teenagers or other family members, the programme offers several activities worth checking out throughout the day.

Join the Science Show Surprise Game and Win Prizes

One of the activities visitors should look forward to is the Science Show Surprise Game.

This interactive activity gives participants an opportunity to answer questions, spin and win prizes. Rather than simply watching a presentation, visitors can get involved and enjoy a more engaging experience.

The game is designed to bring an element of surprise to the celebration, making it particularly exciting for children who enjoy answering questions and participating in activities.

However, interested visitors should take note that participation is limited to up to 15 participants per session. This means places may be limited, so arriving early is a sensible idea for families who want to try their luck.

It is also a nice opportunity for children to enjoy learning in a relaxed environment. Science becomes much more interesting when it is presented through games and interactive activities rather than traditional classroom lessons.

Enjoy the Deepavali Cultural Performance

Deepavali is not just about festive shopping and delicious food. It is also a celebration of culture, traditions and the values that bring communities together.

Visitors can enjoy a Deepavali Cultural Performance as part of Petrosains’ special celebration. This provides an opportunity for families to experience some of the festive atmosphere while appreciating the cultural traditions associated with the Festival of Lights.

For parents bringing their children along, cultural performances can also be a wonderful way to introduce younger family members to different celebrations and traditions.

It is an opportunity to enjoy something beyond the usual museum visit while making the day more memorable for everyone.

Meet Your Favourite A.R.I.F. at the Meet & Greet

Children who enjoy meeting familiar characters will also have something to look forward to.

Petrosains is organising an A.R.I.F. Meet & Greet, giving visitors the chance to meet their favourite A.R.I.F. character during the Deepavali celebration.

For younger visitors, meeting a familiar character can easily become one of the highlights of the day. Parents can also take the opportunity to capture some memorable photographs with their children.

If the little ones are fans of A.R.I.F., this is another good reason to include Petrosains in the family’s Deepavali weekend plans.

Shop at XPLORASI and Enjoy Up to 40% OFF

Beyond the activities and entertainment, the shopping promotions at XPLORASI, Petrosains Gift Shop, are another major attraction.

Visitors planning to bring home something special should make time to explore the gift shop before leaving. The Deepavali Special Deals offer several opportunities to save on selected purchases.

Here are the promotions shoppers can look forward to:

1. Enjoy Up to 40% OFF

Shoppers can enjoy discounts of up to 40% OFF during the Deepavali promotion.

This is a good opportunity to look for interesting gifts, souvenirs and other available items at more attractive prices. Families who regularly purchase educational or science-themed gifts for their children may find something worth bringing home.

Do remember that the maximum discount applies to selected items, so shoppers should check the eligible products and their original prices before making a purchase.

2. Buy 1 Free 1 Deal

Another attractive offer is the Buy 1 Free 1 promotion.

For shoppers who have been thinking about purchasing gifts for their children, siblings or friends, this deal could provide additional value. Instead of paying for two qualifying items separately, shoppers can enjoy the promotional arrangement according to the applicable terms and conditions.

It is also a practical opportunity to pick up matching gifts or purchase something extra for another family member.

3. FREE Mystery Gift with Minimum Spend of RM80

There is also a little surprise waiting for shoppers who spend at XPLORASI.

Customers who make a minimum purchase of RM80 will receive a FREE Mystery Gift.

This is a nice additional reward for visitors who are already planning to shop at the gift store. Whether they are purchasing something for their children, picking up souvenirs or looking for a present, reaching the minimum spending requirement could make the shopping experience even more rewarding.

However, shoppers should remember that the mystery gift is subject to the promotion’s terms and conditions and availability. It is advisable to check with the gift shop team before completing the transaction.

Why Should Families Visit Petrosains for This Deepavali Celebration?

There are several reasons why this event deserves a place on the family’s weekend activity list.

Firstly, it combines entertainment and education in one visit. Children can enjoy the science activities while parents have an opportunity to introduce them to interesting discoveries in an enjoyable setting.

Secondly, the cultural performance and A.R.I.F. Meet & Greet provide additional entertainment beyond the usual discovery centre experience. Families can spend quality time together while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Thirdly, the XPLORASI gift shop promotions offer practical savings. With up to 40% OFF, Buy 1 Free 1 deals and a FREE Mystery Gift with a minimum spend of RM80, visitors have several reasons to browse the available products.

The best part is that families do not need to treat the shopping promotion as the only reason to visit. They can enjoy the activities, explore Petrosains and make the most of the celebration before checking out the gift shop.

For those planning to visit, arriving earlier is recommended, particularly because the Science Show Surprise Game has limited participation per session and promotional gifts may be subject to availability.

Visitors should also remember to check the official Petrosains website for admission tickets and any additional visitor information before making their way to the venue.
