Looking for an affordable Windows device without spending too much money on a brand-new laptop? Here is a deal worth checking out, especially for students, casual computer users and anyone who needs a secondary device for everyday tasks. Green iTech at Larkin Junction is offering a refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 4 for only RM499, giving bargain hunters an opportunity to own a Microsoft touchscreen device at a considerably lower price.

With the promotion available until 30 November 2026, shoppers still have time to visit the store, check out the device and decide whether it suits their needs. For those who have been looking for a budget-friendly laptop alternative, this refurbished Surface Pro 4 could be an interesting option to consider.

The Microsoft Surface range is known for combining the convenience of a tablet with the functionality of a Windows computer. Instead of carrying a traditional laptop everywhere, users can enjoy a more compact device with a touchscreen display. Although the Surface Pro 4 is an older model, its specifications may still be suitable for selected everyday computing activities, depending on the software requirements and condition of the individual unit.

Get a Refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 4 for Only RM499

The highlight of this promotion is undoubtedly the RM499 selling price. Finding a Windows-powered touchscreen device at this price can be attractive, particularly for people who do not need a high-performance machine for demanding work.

The refurbished Microsoft Surface Pro 4 offered by Green iTech comes with an Intel Core i5 6th Generation processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD storage. These specifications provide a basic computing setup for everyday activities such as browsing the internet, reading documents, managing files and working on simple office-related tasks.

The device also features a 12.3-inch PixelSense touchscreen display, which is one of the appealing features of Microsoft’s Surface series. Its touchscreen functionality makes navigating Windows more convenient, especially for users who prefer tapping and scrolling directly on the screen rather than relying entirely on a mouse.

Another advantage is its compact design. A traditional laptop can sometimes feel bulky when carrying it between home, school, work or a café. The Surface Pro 4 offers a more portable alternative, making it worth considering for people who prioritise convenience and portability.

What Do You Get for RM499?

Before heading to the store, it is helpful to understand what is included in this refurbished device. Here is a breakdown of the advertised specifications:

• Processor: Intel Core i5 6th Generation
• Memory: 4GB RAM
• Storage: 128GB SSD
• Display: 12.3-inch PixelSense Touchscreen Display
• Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
• Included Accessories: Charger
• Warranty: 1-month warranty
• Condition: Refurbished, tested and quality checked

One of the most attractive details is the inclusion of a charger and a one-month warranty. Buying refurbished electronics can sometimes make shoppers hesitant because they may worry about the device’s condition or reliability. Having the unit tested and quality checked before being offered for sale provides an additional level of reassurance.

The one-month warranty is also useful because it gives buyers a limited period to check the device after purchase. Nevertheless, shoppers should ask Green iTech about the specific warranty coverage, including which hardware problems are covered and whether any exclusions apply.

Is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Suitable for Everyday Use?

For someone who mainly needs a device for basic computing, the Surface Pro 4 may still have some practical uses.

Students, for example, may consider it for reading digital notes, preparing simple assignments, viewing PDF documents and browsing educational websites. Its touchscreen display can also make reading and navigating documents more comfortable.

For office users, it may be suitable for basic document editing, email access, online browsing and other lightweight tasks. Those who need an additional Windows device at home for occasional use may also find the price appealing.

However, it is important to keep expectations realistic. The Intel Core i5 6th Generation processor and 4GB RAM are relatively dated by today’s standards. This configuration is not ideal for demanding applications, intensive multitasking, modern gaming, professional video editing or heavy creative workloads.

Storage is another consideration. Although the 128GB SSD offers faster data access than a traditional mechanical hard drive, available space may become limited after installing Windows, applications and personal files.

Potential buyers should also take note that Windows 10 reached its standard end of support on 14 October 2025. Since this device is advertised with Windows 10 Pro, shoppers should check its operating system support, security update arrangements and compatibility with their intended software before purchasing. They should not assume that Windows 11 is supported on this model.

In other words, this is best viewed as an affordable refurbished device for selected basic tasks rather than a replacement for a modern performance laptop.

Why Should You Visit Green iTech at Larkin Junction?

There are several reasons why this promotion may be worth a visit, particularly if you are shopping on a tight budget.

Firstly, RM499 is an accessible price point for shoppers who want a Windows touchscreen device without committing to a larger purchase. Instead of spending significantly more on a new laptop, buyers can explore whether a refurbished option meets their requirements.

Secondly, visiting the physical store gives shoppers an opportunity to inspect the device before making a decision. This is particularly important when purchasing refurbished electronics. Rather than relying entirely on product photographs, buyers can check the screen, keyboard compatibility, charging function and general physical condition.

It is also advisable to test the touchscreen across different areas of the display, inspect the battery condition, check the Wi-Fi connection and make sure the charging port works properly. Ask the staff whether the advertised price includes any additional accessories and whether the device has any visible cosmetic defects.

Thirdly, the included charger and one-month warranty make the offer more appealing than purchasing an untested second-hand device without any warranty arrangement.

Most importantly, this promotion gives budget-conscious shoppers another option when looking for an affordable computer. Not everyone needs an expensive laptop with powerful specifications. Sometimes, a simple device that can handle basic everyday activities is enough.

A Few Things to Check Before Buying

Although the price is attractive, it is always wise to do a little homework before purchasing refurbished electronics.

Ask the store about the battery health, as older Surface devices may have experienced battery deterioration over the years. Find out whether the battery can still hold a reasonable charge and whether the device needs to remain connected to its charger during normal use.

Check the touchscreen for dead spots, display discolouration, scratches and other possible defects. Buyers should also confirm whether the unit comes with a compatible keyboard, as the advertised promotion only specifically mentions the charger.

It is equally important to clarify the one-month warranty terms. Ask what happens if the device develops a hardware fault during the warranty period and whether repair or replacement arrangements are available.

Finally, consider the type of software you intend to use. If your work requires newer Windows features, demanding applications or longer-term security support, a more recent computer may be a better investment.
