New Komuter Malaysia is having their Cashless Payment. Commuters KTM users can get new cards that contain an additional 20 percent discount starting today.
Chief Executive Officer, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, said that for a staggered distribution, it will be carried out at all stations in the Klang Valley to the south sector in Pulau Sebang / Tampin, Negeri Sembilan on March 25.
“Consumers only need to show MyKad and only one card will be issued for every citizen between the ages of 13 and 59,” he said in a statement today.
He said the public could get more information on the replacement procedures and the use of the new card at any station, via KTMB’s new media and media outlet.
“It’s made to ensure consumers can use the entire 40 percent discount by April 1,” he said.
On February 20, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced an additional 20 per cent discount on KTM Komuter service, enabling nearly 100,000 to enjoy cheaper fares when the total amount given was 40 per cent.
The launch of the additional 20 percent discount is scheduled to take place on March 31.
Prior to that, KTMB introduced the cashless transaction method through the use of Komuter Link, Touch `n Go and MyKad card for KTM Komuter users to enjoy 20 percent discount on fares.
According to Mohd Rani, the increase in the discount rate is expected to increase the interest of the people in the country to use the rail-based public services to enable the people to save on their cost of living.
