As per reported by the <a href=\"http:\/\/focusmalaysia.my\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">focusmalaysia.my<\/a>, the BUDGET carrier AirAsia Group Bhd (AAGB) has told its staff to brace for a series of cost-cutting measures, including receiving a lower salary, due to the challenging business environment.<\/p>\n<p>The acting CEO Tharumalingam Kanagalingam (also known as Bo Lingam) has informed all their staff yesterday in an internal memo sighted by FocusM that due to \u201cweaker\u201d economic conditions caused by Covid-19, among others, \u201ceveryone needs to be financially prudent and proactive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bo Lingam made the announcement after reviewing \u201cevery option to minimise the impact of any measures\u201d on staff. The action on this is that the group will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reduce wage costs. Our highest earners have decided to lead by example and agreed to take a pay cut.<\/li>\n<li>suspend \u2018Free Munch\u2019 for all non-operations managers and above.<\/li>\n<li>restrict duty travel unless absolutely necessary. I would encourage all of you to use voice or video conferencing.<\/li>\n<li>cancel all big social events for the year.<\/li>\n<li>suspend external training unless it is required by law or regulation.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He added that these measures were \u201cnot permanent\u201d and will be subject to periodic review \u201cuntil the situation normalises.\u201d But AAGB might need to announce additional measures if \u201cthings continue for longer or get worse,\u201d said Bo Lingam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour manager or HOD will explain this exercise to you in more detail,\u201d he added.
