voluntary and will be free to all citizens and non-citizens living in Malaysia, as by February 2022, MOH has aim to complete the vaccinations for at least 80% of Malaysia adult population and on 4 1\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Phase 1 will take place from February to April 2021, consisting of 500,000 frontliners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Priority Group 1:<\/strong>\u00a0Frontliners comprising of public and private healthcare personnel;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priority Group 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Frontliners consisting of essential services, defence and security personnel.<\/li>\n<li>These are essential services groups includes healthecare, police, VOlunteers Departments of Malaysia (Rela), The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba) and the Civil defence sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Phase 2<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Phase 2 will take place from April to August 2021, comprising 9.4 million people in high-risk groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Priority group 1:\u00a0<\/strong>Remainder of the healthcare workers along with those in essential services, defence, and security personnel;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priority group 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Senior citizens aged 60 and over, those with chronic diseases, and OKU individuals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Phase 3<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The final phase will occur from May 2021 to February 2022, for the remainder of 13.7 million people and more:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Priority group:<\/strong>\u00a0Adult population aged 18 years and above (citizens and non-citizens).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What Will The Vaccination Procedure Be Like?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Step 1: Register\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Enrolment will be carried out through the MySejathera app,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaksincovid.gov.my\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this website<\/a>, and manually for those who lack access to digital methods. Registration is ongoing on the app, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com.my\/news\/nation\/2021\/03\/01\/only-61-of-target-80-have-registered-for-covid-19-vaccine-so-far-says-khairy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1,468,137<\/a> people have enrolled since March 1. To register manually, you can call JKKAV\u2019s hotline (TBA) or visit a Klinik Kesihatan. For those in rural and remote areas, there will be an assigned assistance programme to enrol residents.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 2: Get Appointment Scheduled<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Appointment details like the date and vaccination centre you\u2019re assigned to will be notified through the MySejahtera app, a phone call, or SMS.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 3: Show Up At A VAC<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Upon receiving your appointment details, you\u2019ll just have to be present at your assigned Vaccination Administration Centre (VAC). 605 VACs have been identified by MOH thus far. Temporary vaccination centres like stadiums, convention centres, community halls, universities, etc. will be set up accordingly.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 4: Quick Symptom Assessment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At the hospital, a quick evaluation will take place involving a temperature check and close-contact screening.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 5: Identification Confirmation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Then, you will register using the QR code provided for identification purposes.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 6: Consultation &amp; Providing Consent<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After you\u2019ve registered, you\u2019ll go through a consultation on the benefits and risks of the jab. You\u2019ll then be given authorisation forms to fill up and consent to receive the vaccine.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 7: Get Injected<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Finally, you\u2019ll receive the first dose of the vaccine!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 8: Short Observation Period<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve been jabbed, you\u2019ll be kept under observation by medical staff for at least 30 minutes. This is to monitor for any immediate adverse reactions.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 9: Receive Vaccination Card<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Facilitators will provide you with a vaccination card to confirm your inoculation, where you can then go home to rest.<\/p>\n<p>For the CanSinoBio vaccine, which is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2021\/02\/09\/china-covid-vaccine-single-dose-cansino-johnson-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">single-dose<\/a>, the process will end here.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0Step 10: Observation For Adverse Events<\/h3>\n<p>You can return to normal life but be aware of any side effects or Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI). Side effects\/AEFI can be reported by either informing the medical facility, through MySejathera, or the NPRA ConSERF\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npra.gov.my\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow aligncenter\" data-effect=\"slide\" data-jetpack-block-initialized=\"true\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_container swiper-container swiper-container-initialized swiper-container-horizontal wp-swiper-initialized\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_pagination swiper-pagination swiper-pagination-white swiper-pagination-clickable swiper-pagination-bullets\">Infographic showing the steps of how vaccinations will take place for the public. Out of the 5 vaccines the country is using, those that require second doses are:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Pfizer &amp; Sputnik V vaccines: 21 day-interval;<\/li>\n<li>AstraZeneca vaccine: 28 day-interval; and<\/li>\n<li>Sinovac vaccine: 14 day-interval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The same procedures apply when getting the second dose. You\u2019ll be reminded of your appointment the same way as the previous. You\u2019ll also receive the COVID-19 Vaccine Immunisation Digital Certificate upon its completion.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Common Side Effects &amp; How To Report Them<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine that have been reported are mild and temporary. The most commonly reported ones are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pain\/swelling\/redness at the injection site<\/li>\n<li>tiredness<\/li>\n<li>fever<\/li>\n<li>nausea<\/li>\n<li>feeling unwell<\/li>\n<li>headaches<\/li>\n<li>chills<\/li>\n<li>joint pain<\/li>\n<li>swelling of the lymph nodes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the MOH to monitor side effects and AEFI effectively, citizens will receive a scheduled MySejahtera notification to report them.\u00a0Health workers via the existing public healthcare system are also allowed to make AEFI reports for citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvestigations for serious AEFI will be conducted carefully, whereby a special expert committee will be set up to assess these cases and security issues related to the COVID-19 vaccines,\u201d the handbook states.
