What&#8217;s SST?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Yesterday was great day as\u00a0GST is Zero Rated &#8230;<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2079\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-2.jpg 600w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.everydayonsales.com\/news\/gst-abolishment-tun-m-asked-to-stop-collecting-gst\/\"><em>announced<\/em><\/a> by the Kementerian Kewangan Malaysia as per instructed by Tun M to not collect the GST starting 1st June.<\/p>\n<p>But do you think that there is really\u00a0no more tax for Malaysia?<\/p>\n<p>Well, As per informed by Tun M, government will be re-introducing the Sales Service Tax (SST) soon, as reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astroawani.com\/berita-malaysia\/sst-akan-diperkenalkan-semula-kementerian-kewangan-175702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Astro Awani<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Just in case you didn&#8217;t know, SST was there before GST and it was abolish after the GST introduced.<\/p>\n<p>So the main question that everyone have on their mind &#8230; What&#8217;s SST and how does it work?<\/p>\n<p>The Sales &amp; Service Tax (SST) is the sales tax that is impose on one level by of production and normally it&#8217;s taxed at products is taken out from the factory or product owner (merchant level)<\/p>\n<p>The below diagram shows what&#8217;s the difference between GST and SST (courtesy of Astro Awani)<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2077\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-image-2077 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"3402\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2077\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image via Astro Awani<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The above illustrated diagram is from 2015 when GST thus you see more details on GST \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>If it&#8217;s still confusing, the below might help to explain how the charges will be and you can try calculate this yourself.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2078\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2078\" class=\"wp-image-2078\" src=\"https:\/\/www.everydayonsales.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"795\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst.jpg 1200w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-150x150.jpg 150w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-300x298.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-768x763.jpg 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-1024x1017.jpg 1024w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/05\/sst-gst-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2078\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image via PaulTan.org<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Here is an example of how GST and SST works:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SST: Consumers ordered RM100 food at a restaurant, then they had to pay RM100 food fee, RM10 service charge and 6% SST for a total of RM116 at checkout.<\/li>\n<li>GST: Merchants must calculate the consumption tax by adding food charges plus service charges, that is, multiplying RM110 by 6%, consumption tax at RM6 60 cents, and the total is RM116.60.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So we get a cheaper by RM0.60. In short, after GST is reduce to 0 and replaced with SST, the cost of goods will be reduced<\/p>\n<p>But anyhow,\u00a0the new SST rules has not being defined and tabled out by the government and there might be some changes on it.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think of SST re-introduction?
